How to Make Idli Batter
- Ratio: Use 3 parts idli rice to 1 part urad dal (split black lentils)
- Soak: Soak rice and dal separately for 6β8 hours or overnight
- Grind: Grind separately to a smooth, thick batter using minimal water
- Ferment: Mix batters, add salt, and ferment in a warm place for 8β12 hours until doubled and bubbly
